My Weekend in New York

I had the best time in New York with my sister who lives right across the street from the beach. We made dinner together, made funfetti cake, watched TV, and did some crafty things for ScrappyTime. On Saturday morning we drove into the city to visit the Brooklyn Botanic Garden which was amazing. We went at the perfect time for cherry blossom viewing season and I think I took over three hundred photographs there! The weather was perfect and the sky was so blue. Then we stopped to have lunch outside at San Loco before we went to Serendipity for dessert.

I love New York, my family lived there for awhile and I went to middle and high school in Bedford. My sister and I have a plan to someday live next door to each other and have a big, cool barn that we can share for holidays, parties, or just a Tuesday :) Here are some of my favorite moments and photographs from this weekend. I Have the Best Sister

My sister is so nice and not just because she sends me boxes of fun stuff in my favorite color :) This was in the package I got from her today :)

My Grandmother's Scrapbook

I have been working on simplifying my things for what has felt like a lifetime :) A few years ago my mom gave me one of my grandmother's scrapbooks and I found it again today while I was looking through my stuff. Sometimes it takes me some time to organize because I have a tendency to stop and reminisce. Here are some of the pages from her scrapbook which is a little over seventy years old :)

Happy Hearts Day

This morning we received this heart shaped tea set packaged in a pretty yellow hat box from my mom. I hope everyone has a Happy Valentine's Day :)

Wedding Day Barbie

Many many years ago my sister and I received the Barbie Dream House on Christmas morning. Although we no longer have the house we still have our Barbies and the accessories all packed away at our mom's house. When we were home for Christmas we were seriously considering bidding on a few vintage Dream Houses on eBay :)

As a bridal shower gift my older brothers gave me Wedding Day Barbie and she now sits on a shelf in my crafty room :)

My brother just adopted a puppy from New Hope Cattle Dogs in Colorado. I can't wait to meet him :)

My Treasure Chest

The day before our wedding my father in law gave me this trunk that he restored as a gift. He even placed a small gold plate engraved "Missy's Treasures" on the top of the trunk. This was such a thoughtful gift and it makes me happy to fill it with all of my keepsakes :)

My sister just opened up her own Etsy shop, Urban Belle Couture. She created this keychain for me with pieces from her antique and vintage button collection :)

Meet Bentley

I've slowly been trying to organize the photographs on my computer. As I do this I have a tendency to want to look through all of them. This is my sister's puppy, Bentley, last year when he came home to Colorado with her for Christmas :) He is the best!

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend

Last night Eric and I came home from spending Thanksgiving with his family in New Jersey. This is the first Thanksgiving we have spent together and it was so nice. On Friday my sister stopped by Eric's parent's house to visit too :)

My Mom's Wedding Dress

Yesterday I was talking to my sister about my mom's wedding dress. My mom gave it to my sister and sent it to her a few days ago {it had been stored away in my mom's basement}. I love this dress :) The color is so pretty and I also love that my mom bought her dress only three months before her wedding in 1976 in Colorado. Last night my sister took some photographs for me and it fits my sister's dress form perfectly!

Pantene Beautiful Lengths

In memory of my grandmother and in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month I cut my hair tonight to give to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. My sister inspired me when she cut her hair a few months ago and donated it to Locks of Love. I thought it was so nice of her {she is the best}. I was a little nervous about cutting my hair but I'm so happy I did and that I can give it away for such a good cause :) I hope other people are inspired too! :)

One of My Favorite Wedding Gifts

The day before the wedding our parents gave this quilt to Eric and I. Our parents worked closely on creating the quilt with the help of a quilter in Colorado. Our moms had only met each other once before the wedding so I thought it was really nice that they worked on the quilt together long distance while getting to know each other a little better.

I love that they included "Better Together", our first dance song and our wedding date :)
